Positive, optimistic work environments are crucial for the long term success of individuals as well as organisations. The recipe is simple:
Trust: Trust is a basic tenet for all relationships. It is a philosophy that must be demonstrated in everything we do . For that our words and behaviour should be congruent. Giving trust without the need to earn it is what separates successful people from the rest. Doing the right thing builds lasting bonds of trust. This is particularly important for Human Resources as we need to be trusted with confidential conversations - conversations which explore solutions to problems in confidence.
Communication: In today's virtual world of offices around the world, I can not be present physically everywhere but I am on a quest to create an atmosphere of open communication by listening to each person and helping people explore their ideas. I want to see teams working as a circle rather than a pyramid as everyone's role is equally important in fulfilling the mission of the organisation.
Expect the best from my team: I have huge expectations from my team as I know they are capable, competent people and they will rise to the occasion. Higher performance is not an accident of history - it is the result of conscious hard team work.
Unity: Basic human need is to feel we belong to something bigger than ourselves and for many people that need is met by being part of a supportive work group. I want to encourage a feeling of cooperation rather than competition. We are better off than millions of people around the world - so let us work together to achieve goals instead of competing with each other. Let us work together as a group of people for a common goal rather than bunch of individuals competing with each other.
Fun: Last but not the least is humour. Having fun and taking a well earned break after lot of hard work and tangible achievements comes as a refreshing breeze. I notice that some offices have a "Humour Section" on the bulletin board where team members post things they find funny (keeping good taste in mind, of course). Let us show our personalities and develop them, together let us make Niche n Agile's work place feel happy and inviting.
